the beginning of the adventure to ITALY and the OLYMPICS!!!!

So this weekend was probably one of the best of my entire life, I’m not going to lie. I guess you could say the adventure began on Thursday. So I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned anything about Rainbow Bear or not, but apparently it was Chris’ turn to have Rainbow Bear at school, and he had to do stuff with him, and then tell what he did with him. Well, my mom told him that we would take him to the Olympics in Italy. She also said that Chris wanted to play hockey with Rainbow Bear and that she would make him a hockey stick. So, I had to print out Rainbow Bear which ended up being a little challenging when the girl at the internet café didn’t have any ink in the printer (good job), but then Monica and I went to another place near the plaza to print out itinerary stuff and Rainbow Bear, and we went to Foto Pedro. Then later we out to Can Can, and got home around 3:30am.
The real adventure though began on Friday. Nicole and I met Monica at the bus station so that we could get on the green bus to the airport, however the only problem was we weren’t sure where exactly to get off. The thing is the stop is somewhere along the highway. So we told the bus driver that we didn’t know where to get off, and he said to sit close so he could tell us. We weren’t sure if he remembered, so we (ok I) stood up at like 4 stops and he just shook his head. Then Monica and I were talking and Nicole said he signaled that it was the next stop, but we missed that. Then he started jerking his head for us. We crossed the highway (on the bridge) and found the airport bus. We finally made it to the airport, so now we know how to get there (kinda). We checked in, and basically just waited around in the airport until our flight, which was delayed by an hour. We were so anxious to get there, we just wanted to leave. I was really excited to see Jen, and Monica couldn’t wait to see Todd, her boyfriend. While we were waiting we took some pictures of Rainbow Bear in the airport and stuff. We finally got into Milan around 6something, and then from there we knew the address of our hotel, and that was about it, besides the fact that we knew it was close to the center of Milan. We figured out we could take a bus to the center, so we hopped on, only to encounter the worst traffic ever. It ended up taking us 2 ½ hours when it should have taken 45 minutes to get there. The worst part was that we didn’t really have any way to communicate with the rest of our group, Jen and the England crew. I finally was able to call Jen, but after that the phones didn’t work for some odd reason. We finally got to the center of Milan, and all we had was the hotel address. Monica went up to some lady to try to ask her where the main road was, and the lady finally just asked her if she spoke English, which of course was very exciting, she turned out to be British. She had a map that she let us look at, and then actually had an extra map that she gave us. With Monica leading, we began the adventure to find the hotel, which wasn’t that hard in the end, although Nicole freaked out a little bit for some reason. We walked for like 40 minutes and finally got to the hotel at like 9:45. We raced up to our rooms only to find the rest of our group wasn’t there. We tried unsuccessfully to call and find out where they were but the phones didn’t work, so ended up going to a pizza place that was close by. We had real Italian pizza which was amazing and then Todd finally called and met us there. We went back to the hotel, and Jen, Monica, Todd and I talked for a little bit until about midnight or so, and then Jen and I talked for a few minutes and I finally got to sleep around 1:30.
Saturday was the big day…and in order to truly do it justice, I think I’m going to write about it tomorrow…

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
